ISO 2248 Package Drop Tester Sep 16, 2025
ISO 2248 Package Drop Tester

The ISO 2248 standard is a crucial testing method for evaluating the impact resistance of transport packaging during distribution. Primarily applicable to the packaging and transportation industries, this standard comprehensively simulates, this standard comprehensively simulates potential drop scenarios encountered during product handling and actual transit. It thereby assists manufacturers in refining packaging designs to enhance protection for internal products.

What is the ISO 2248?

This International Standard specifies a method for carrying out a vertical impact test on a complete, filled transport package by dropping.It may be performed either as a single test to investigate the effects of vertical impact or as part of a sequence of tests designed to measure the ability of a package to withstand distribution hazards that include vertical impacts.

Principle: Raising of the test package above a rigid plane surface and releasing it to strike this surface (the "impact surface") after a free fall. The atmospheric conditions, the height of drop and the attitude of the package are predetermined.

Single Arm Package Drop Tester GT-LC05-1

The Drop Tester is a precision testing instrument designed to simulate free-fall impacts during transportation and handling processes. This reliable equipment evaluates packaging durability, product protection capability, and structural design effectiveness by conducting standardized drop tests from adjustable heights.

Ideal for quality control in e-commerce packaging, electronic product boxes, pharmaceutical packaging, and fragile goods containers.

Test Procedure

1. Select equipment parameters in accordance with standard requirements, such as drop height and orientation;
2. Secure the test package to the package drop tester and and simulate a free-fall process;
3. Assess the packaging's impact resistance based on results, typically employing visual criteria (e.g., cracks, damage) or functional testing (e.g., whether product usability is compromised). Accurate test reporting is crucial for validating and refining packaging designs.
